Letters…we get letters! Yesterday morning, I received this e-mail. I don’t know the answer, but perhaps you can help?
“I came across your website and figured you may be able to help me. CFRY radio, in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, 920 on the am dial, used to sign off every Saturday night with an instrumental before playing the National Anthem. I remember hearing it from the later eighties until the early nineties. I believe that before then it was used every night, until the later eighties when the station went 24 hours except Saturdays. It was a slower, country styled song, heavy on the steel guitars.
I’m also looking for a song played on CKRC radio, 630 am, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was a short, about 40 seconds, Christmas song made for that station. The last line went “cause CKRC, feels a lot like home”. If you have any info on either song, such as name, artist, or where I can find them, I’d be grateful. If you have them I’d be wiling to pay a reasonable price for a copy. My name is (name withheld), formerly of Winnipeg, but now living in Las Vegas. Thank you.”
