KRIT-FM 96.9 Fort Dodge Iowa Mark Spangler 1988

Mark Spangler was doing overnights and morning news on Super 97 at this time.  It made for a long workday, but Mark was a trooper and didn’t mind it.  I had worked with him the previous year when I was doing 7-Midnight on Super 97 KRIT.  Here is some of Mark’s newscast which I had joined in progress, unfortunately.  The Legal ID sweeper is also included.  It was voiced by Steve Adler.  Steve voiced all 3 Linder CHRs (KDOG/KKCK/KRIT) as well as hosting afternoons at Y94 (WDAY-FM) in Fargo.

This was recorded from Apple Valley, MN, approximately 180 miles NNE of KRIT’s transmitter.  To hear it, I used a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver, Winegard 10 element FM yagi antenna, Alliance U-100 Tenna Rotor, and Belden ultra low loss RG59 coaxial cable.  The recording was made using a Sears stereo cassette deck and BASF 60 minute normal bias cassette.

I am just now digitizing my first radio recording from age 9, Y94 in 1985. Went googling for one of the two local DJs featured on the tape, Steve Adler, and this was my first stop. Thanks for leading me to this site!

Steve Adler did the liners/sweepers for all 3 of the Linder CHRs: KDOG/Mankato, KRIT/Fort Dodge, and KKCK/Marshall. He was the voice of KRIT for 2 years until 1989 when they switched to Mitch Craig.
