KCPI-FM 95.3 Albert Lea Minnesota Linda Brekke 1988

Despite being only 3,000 watts, Magic 95 was a decent little CHR.  They were live, local, and as current on music as the larger stations.  KCPI was pretty easy for me to receive after the local religious station on 95.3 (KNOF) signed off at 10PM. Linda Brekke is heard first. I’m not sure who is giving the weather forecast. Do you know?

Reception of this aircheck was made from Apple Valley, MN, using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver, Winegard 1o element FM yagi, Alliance U-100 Tenna Rotor, and Belden RG59 ultra low loss coaxial cable.  Recording duties were handled by a Sears cassette deck and a BASF 60 normal bias tape.

The female voice at the beginning is Linda Brekke who worked in Albert Lea radio for many years. She is now a farm broadcaster for the Linder Farm Network

    Hi Steve,

Thanks! I thought the voice sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place it. I worked in Fort Dodge during 1986-87 and my parents were in Apple Valley. Nothing to do on THAT 3 hour drive besides listen to the radio! I knew I’d heard the voice before.

Hey Drew, that’s me doing the weather! I later worked at WTBX in Hibbing, and now on-and-off at KQIC in Willmar (off now).

Hi Chris! When were you at WTBX? I think I interviewed to replace you in mornings when you left. Summer of 1990. PD was Joe Crain.

I graduated Broadcasting school in Austin with Linda. Really nice gal, and as Steve mentioned is now with the Linder Farm network.
