KAWL-FM 104.9 York Nebraska Automated 1983

Back in the early 1980s, KAWL was your typical small market AM/FM combo. The AM was live, full-service radio. The FM was automated, employing the standard Carousel and reel-to-reel automation system. In those days, the FM was only 3,000 watts, so coverage was pretty much limited to the immediate area around York.

I recorded this during a weekend visit to York in the fall of 1983. Equipment used was a Pioneer AM/FM/cassette stereo unit with a TDK D90 tape.
